NORWALK, Conn. — The NAACP Norwalk Branch is holding elections for its officers and executive committee this fall, and members are being asked to attend three meetings leading up to the vote.
The process starts on Sept. 8 at 6 p.m., when members will elect a Nominating Committee via Zoom. Between five and 15 people will serve on that committee. Anyone whose membership has been active for at least 30 days before the meeting can be chosen, though no more than two current officers can serve on the committee.
The second meeting is set for Oct. 6 at 6 p.m., also on Zoom. During this meeting, the Nominating Committee will give its report, the branch will accept nominations by petition, and members will elect an Election Supervisory Committee. To be nominated for an office or an at-large seat on the Executive Committee, a person’s membership must have been active since April 1, 2026, and remain active throughout the term.
They also need to live or work within the branch’s coverage area. To sign a nominating petition or be elected to the Election Supervisory Committee, membership must be active at least 30 days before the October meeting.
The election itself will take place on Nov. 10, 2026, using an electronic voting platform. Voting will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. To vote, a person must have been a member in good standing for at least 30 days before the election. In-person meetings will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 21 Concord St., Norwalk.
If a runoff election is needed, it will happen within 10 days of the original election and will also be held electronically, open for at least one hour.
