HARTFORD, Conn. – State Rep. Chris Perone (D-137) has co-introduced legislation creating a Commission on Economic Competitiveness designed to analyze Connecticut’s business tax policy climate and develop policies that promote economic growth in the state, according to a Tuesday press release.

“If Connecticut is to make true economic progress and attract businesses to our state, then we must first have a detailed understanding of our business and tax climate and our overall competitiveness,” said Perone, who is House chairman of the Commerce Committee. “I look forward to working with the commission and reviewing their findings later this year. Connecticut needs to be put on the path toward economic competitiveness and I believe that the creation of this commission is an important first step.”

The commission will consist of legislators, members of state economic agencies, and members of the business community. No later than Jan. 1, the commission shall submit a report to the General Assembly detailing its finds and recommendations. The commission will then continue to submit similar reports annually, the release said.

This measure was adopted as part of Senate Bill 1502, commonly known as the budget implementer bill. The bill passed both legislative chambers and now heads to Governor Dannel Malloy’s desk for final approval before becoming law.

Great, lets hope people like Bob Duff listen to the commission and not just the public unions with their bloated salary and pension demands, which are killing our state.

It sounds as if Gov. Scott’s visit to CT touched a nerve.

Hopefully this is not too little, too late.
