NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 830, formally announced in a Friday press release it would once again endorse Harry Rilling for Mayor of Norwalk.

This endorsement was an unanimous vote of the Norwalk Fire Fighters Association during its most recent meeting, based on the recommendation of its Executive Board.

“Mayor Rilling has a long career in public service, which includes time in the military, many years with the Norwalk Police Department and now as our mayor,” said Elefterios Petrides, president of the Norwalk Fire Fighters Association, in the announcement. “During his first term in office, he has been a champion in the area of public safety and he continues to work hard to improve the level of service the Fire Department provides. We believe he is the best person for the job and fully support his campaign for re-election.”

“Norwalk firefighters risk their lives every day to protect our city and make it a safer place,” said Rilling in the release. “As mayor for the past two years I have worked by their side to support them. It gives me great pride that they are confident in my leadership of this city.”

  1. WOW just WOW

When I hear that a city union endorses a candidate that tells me to vote for the other candidate.

especially when 70% of them live out of town!

  3. Looking in

Of course they endorsement him. They wanted the chief out…done.. now the union can hand pick the chief and his deputies. Who is really running this city? Politics at its best.

We have to look at who are voters in Norwalk and then see where the endorsement comes from. I support All firefighters but when it comes to who serves the City of Norwalk it should be Norwalk voters. They will make the choice at Norwalks polling sites.
