NORWALK, Conn. – The campaign to re-elect Mayor Harry Rilling continued to build its bankroll in the second fundraising quarter.

Friends of Rilling raised more than $28,580 in the period from April 1 to June 30, about $7,500 more than the total announced for the quarter by his Republican opponent, Kelly Straniti.

The second quarter total is higher than the campaign’s previous two quarters. The Rilling campaign has raised $75,210 over the course of the campaign so far. In 2013, the Rilling campaign raised $163,944.

“I am honored by the continued support for my work as mayor,” said Rilling in a campaign press release. “The encouragement I am seeing from people all over this great city shows how we’re moving Norwalk in the right direction.”

“Mayor Rilling has moved development forward to increase the city’s tax base, kept Norwalk safe, invested in common sense quality of life programs, and provided the resources our teachers and students need,” said Campaign Manager Kevin Coughlin. “He’s done all of this while keeping Norwalk’s AAA bond rating and holding the line on property taxes. People are responding positively to his work and that’s what you’re seeing with this fundraising report.”

Detailed reports are due to be filed with the Town Clerk’s office by Friday, July 10.
