NORWALK, Conn. — A few hundred people turned out Friday night for a frosty start to the holiday season at the annual Christmas Tree lighting at City Hall.

The evening began with an hour-long musical program in the Concert Hall. Then the audience headed outdoors where the temperature was at the freezing mark.

After brief remarks from Mayor Harry Rilling, the tree was lit. Then sirens were heard, signaling the arrival of Santa Claus on a fire engine.
