NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk fireworks and music concert originally scheduled for tonight, July 3, at Calf Pasture Beach has been postponed until Thursday, July 5 due to forecasted thunderstorms.  The decision was made early in collaboration with various city departments to ensure the safety of the more than 15,000 people who attend the annual event.

“It’s never easy when deciding to postpone such a well-attended event, but after talking with my staff, I felt it was best to make this decision early to give residents and guests plenty of notice,” said Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling.

“I look forward to this event every year, and it was a hard choice to make. However, the most important thing is always the safety of our residents and guests. I hope the public will join us for this wonderful event.”

The same program scheduled for July 3 will be in place for Thursday night.  The festivities will begin with the “The Amazing Andy Show” specifically for children at 5:30 p.m., followed by “Dance to the Music” with DJ Nuzzo at 6 p.m.  At 8 p.m. the band “BonJourney” will take the stage until the fireworks begin at sundown. Music will continue after the fireworks.  Norwalk residents with current Resident/Beach passes can park for free.  Those without a pass must pay a $35 non-resident fee.  No parking signs will be posted on streets around Calf Pasture Beach and motorists who park there might be towed.

As Norwalk Communications Manager can you tell us if Vets Park is going to be closed like Ryan park soon. We have been told Vets park is worst than Ryan park where children played knowing there was a problem in Ryan park.Communication is a big thing when it comes to exposing people to contamination like Norwalk has done in the past.

Im glad Norwalk has a weather person giving us a heads up , now we have crowd estimates now the question is , is the city going to have proper emergency coverage for the sections of the city so needy during this event at calf pasture? Those nursing homes and high rises already built along with the marine units for fire and police are taking away from regular coverage people are expecting.

Time to open up the towing contracts the city has Josh a large problem has existed for a long time, seeing your looking for something to do lets get on the cities problems Rilling has ignored, now that we have two people running the city.

safety of our residents and guests should be all the time as we both know parking in a Norwalk parking garage now makes easier to become a victim of a crime more now than ever. Even The Hour maybe by mistake has also run crime and related issues on our parking garages recently . Josh I thought your job was to give us a heads up before the HOUR.
