Letter from the Editor: Tonight’s the Debate

Tonight’s the night!

After so many hours of preparation, NancyOnNorwalk will host the Democratic mayoral primary debate at the Norwalk Public Library’s Main Branch auditorium.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the debate will begin at 6:30 p.m. Seating is available to the public, although it is limited. You can also tune in on Zoom: Join the debate here.

This debate comes just days before the Sept. 9 primary, when Norwalk Democrats will decide who will carry the party’s nomination to replace Mayor Harry Rilling after 12 years in office.

Behind the scenes, our board and I have been hard at work. We received far more questions than we could possibly get to in one evening. It wasn’t easy, but together we cut them down to a set that reflects the issues and concerns we heard most often.

I’ve been practicing my opener, double-checking the camera and audio gear, and even getting some wardrobe advice at home, because left to my own choices, I’m usually more ‘comfortable’ than ‘debate-ready’.

We hope you’ll join us!
