Join our forum and discussion on our local education funding

Send signed letters to Nancy@NancyOnNorwalk.com

Please join me on Thursday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Norwalk City Hall, 125 East Avenue, for a forum and panel discussion on changes to state funding for local education. I will be joined on the panel by Connecticut School Finance Project Director Katie Roy, Democrats for Education Reform Connecticut State Director Amy Dowell, Norwalk Federation of Teachers President Mary Yordon, and Board of Education member Barbara Meyer-Mitchell.

As a longtime advocate for Norwalk, Darien and all local towns receiving the funding they need, I am happy to provide this opportunity for folks to learn more about the important changes included in this year’s bipartisan budget that delivers critical funding to our cities and towns.

With two kids of my own in the Norwalk public school system, I see every day how much our teachers and administrators depend on state funding to provide an excellent educational experience to their students.

Again, I hope to see you Thursday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Norwalk City Hall and I look forward to answering your questions.

State Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff (D-25)

    Advocate for higher State taxes and spending is more accurate.

    Senator Duff;

    I don’t think most people doubt your good intentions and how much you care about our kids’ education. What we challenge is your ability to deliver results. Nice intentions are not enough. Over the last 12 years, you have done very well for yourself in Hartford, even rising to Senate Majority leader. However, you have done so while producing no results for Norwalk. No dog and pony show is going to change that. We must be the butt of every joke in Hartford. How many millions does it take for Norwalk to elect you? Not too many apparently… haha…

    Norwalk needs effective representation that will deliver results, our kids deserve no less!

    If, in his twelve years in the State Senate, he has been so utterly ineffective in getting a fair share of state funding for Norwalk schools (assuming he has even tried), one may reasonably ask why.

    My guess is that our school system hasn’t staged enough events at which he can appear before the cameras.

    What bothers me about this forum is that although the buzz-words “bipartisan budget” are thrown in for good measure, the panel is anything but that. I’ll pass.
