NORWALK, Conn. — Michelle Suda, a fifth-grade teacher at Marvin Elementary School, has been selected as Norwalk Public Schools’ nominee for the 2027 Connecticut Teacher of the Year.
Suda, who was named Norwalk Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year for 2026, has spent more than 30 years teaching in the district, all at Marvin Elementary. She was recognized Monday during the district’s annual Convocation ceremony, where she addressed teachers and staff about her approach to teaching.
“I’ve always believed that the foundation of student education starts with two things: building meaningful relationships and fostering a sense of belonging,” Suda said during her remarks.
Suda began her career at Marvin as a second-grade teacher before moving to third grade and eventually fifth grade at the request of Principal Sue-Ellen O’Shea.
The 2027 Connecticut Teacher of the Year ceremony is scheduled for Dec. 2 at the Bushnell Center for Performing Arts in Hartford. District teachers of the year from across Connecticut will be honored at the ceremony.
