To the Editor:
I was very surprised to hear the White Barn developer’s lawyer state that the developer was not aware of Eversource ever visiting the White Barn Property to trim or remove trees.
I live on Newtown Avenue, across from the White Barn Property. A couple years ago I saw crews cutting and removing trees there. I crossed the street to ask the workers what they were doing and they replied that they were removing trees to keep them from threatening sub-transmission lines that cross the property. The workers said they have to do this work on a regular basis to keep the lines safe. Over the years, I have seen them there on various occasions. At the Public Hearing, I heard that they use poison to keep trees from re-growing.
The area where trees were being cut down is the same area that the developer wants to designate “conservation land”. How can it be conservation land if poison is used to keep trees from growing there?
