Summer Reading Finale at SoNo Library Saturday

NORWALK, Conn. — With the new school year right around the corner, SoNo Branch Library, located at 10 Washington St., will hold a free Summer Reading Finale event—featuring a bubble show, face painting, and giveaways—this coming Saturday, Aug. 16, from 1:30 to 5 p.m.

“From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., we will have a special performance of Bubblemania, featuring comic bubble artist Casey Carle,” said SoNo Branch Manager Marcus Eason. “This live show blends jazz music, visual comedy, and bursts of bubbles for a fun and engaging experience for all ages.”

In addition to the performance, face painting will also be available during the same timeframe for both children and adults who wish to participate, according to Eason.

“All we ask is that attendees come ready to enjoy themselves and bring plenty of smiles and joy with them,” said Eason.

“I’m genuinely excited about this event, and best of all, there is no limit to how many patrons can attend and enjoy the celebration!” he added.

While registration for the event isn’t required, Eason said the library encourages folks to register, as it helps organizers estimate attendance and plan accordingly.

In terms of giveaways at Saturday’s event, Eason said he wants those to remain a surprise, “but I can assure you the giveaways are definitely worth it! Each bag is filled with fun and unique items we think you’ll really enjoy.”

The branch manager said his library “warmly invites” all families to this event, which is “truly for you.”

“As a library, we want every patron who joins us to know that we see and appreciate your dedication, whether you are a parent or a student. The show, giveaways, and face painting are our way of expressing gratitude for the hard work and commitment you have shown throughout the school year and summer,” said Eason.

Eason encourages kids and families to “join us to celebrate and enjoy this special day. It is your day, and we would be honored to have each and every one of you come out and share in the fun,” he added.

Eason stressed that city libraries see patrons as extended family members.

“At the Norwalk Library, we consider everyone who walks through our doors as part of our extended family. Just as family members express gratitude and care for one another, we want to demonstrate our appreciation and support for our patrons,” he said.

“Wrapping up the summer reading program with this event is very important to us because it reflects how much we see, appreciate, and care about each member of our community. You are not alone; we are here for you,” Eason concluded.
