FaithActs to host Lamont, Fazio, and Eliot at Bridgeport forum tonight

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Three of Connecticut’s gubernatorial candidates will share a stage Tuesday night for a rare forum that organizers say hasn’t happened in this state in more than 40 years.

FaithActs, a nonpartisan nonprofit, is hosting the event at 2319 Fairfield Ave. in Bridgeport. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the program runs from 6 to 8 p.m.

Confirmed candidates are Gov. Ned Lamont, a Democrat running for re-election; state Sen. Ryan Fazio, a Republican; and state Rep. Josh Eliot, who is challenging Lamont in the Democratic primary.

Natasha S. Alford, a journalist and Senior Vice President and Chief Content Officer at TheGrio, will moderate. Alford has covered education, politics, and criminal justice throughout her career and previously worked as a CNN political analyst.

FaithActs CEO Jamilah Prince-Stewart said the group wanted candidates to answer “real questions from regular Connecticut folks about the future of our state and country.”

The forum is nonpartisan and informational.

This is actually more interesting for those interested in EQUITY in EDUCATION. Faith Acts major mission is EQUITABLE Education. REAL EQUITY. Not just pouring more money down the same drain as we’ve seen over the past 30+Years here in Norwalk. As such, they are committed to the expansion of Charter Schools. You know the small grouping of school that always have more applicants than seats…Why is that? Because for some bizarre reason the Unions don’t seem to want EQUITY for our most needy neighborhoods. (Norwalk as an example) ..So how do these 3 stacks up on Charter Schools?:
Josh Elliott — Hates Charter Schools
Ned Lamont — Lukewarm, but he’s trying within the parameters he’s given by Unions
Ryan Fazio — All In on Charter Schools…

While our locals Dems will do as they’re told after the Democratic Primary, the guy who could really help expand on the success of Norwalk’s Charter Schools is
Ryan Fazio….Again, ask yourself, why are there more applicants than seats for Charter Schools. Why not give a poor kid in Norwalk as chance to change their trajectory by attending a private school…(You know one of those institutions that demands accountability) ..I shake my head at the stubbornness of some who claim to support our students. Whether it’s the failure of State Legislators to obtain our fair share of ECS dollars and their kowtowing to Unions on Charter Schools. It’s a disgrace when you sit down and think about it…

I commend Faith Acts and all they stand for — I wish Norwalk’s elected leaders would listen to their message. They don’t want a handout. They want a chance.
THAT’S NOT WHAT IS CURRENTLY HAPPENING …
